Documentary

We decided to do a documentary to show our target audience what happens behind scenes in the production. Video documentaries are something many film companies use that have little funding, this is because the documentary can be used as a marketing technique.

I think being part of the documentary was the better product to be part of, this is because the documentary was focused more on the out-takes and ‘muck-up’s’ that occurred in the movie. The documentary included special interviews with the cast, which included the main character, fresh from off-stage. I found our documentary more entertaining than our film because it is spontaneous and does not have to follow a script. Bigger media conglomerates probably plan their documentaries. They will have a rough idea on what they want to include, and will add in extra items that occur during filming.

We didn’t want our documentary to be factual and formal, we wanted to go for a more informal, humorous approach. This is because our target audience is young adults/teenagers and they wouldn’t want to sit through facts and figures. Also because our film is quite melodramatic, we wanted our documentary to link in with that and also be over the top and enthusiastic.
